Privacy Policy

01The Short Version
Sutra works without an account. There are no ads, no tracking, and no analytics services. Your practice record, reminders, and settings stay on your device. We do not sell your data.
02Information Stored on Your Device
Sutra keeps the following on your device only: your practice record (The Thread — which days you completed a practice, and what you practiced), your reminder time, your First thing settings, your onboarding progress, and a small log of in-app events, such as whether the subscription screen was shown. This information is shared only between Sutra and its own widgets and Screen Time extension on the same device. It is never sent to us. Deleting the App removes it.
03Information We Don't Collect
Sutra does not ask for your name, email address, or phone number. It does not access your location, microphone, camera, contacts, or health data. It does not use your device's advertising identifier or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
04Subscriptions and Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple, and we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to check whether your Sutra Pro subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier generated by the App, your purchase and subscription history, and basic technical information such as device model, iOS version, App Store country, and IP address. This information is not linked to your name or email address.
05First Thing and Screen Time
If you turn on First thing, iOS asks for your permission to use Screen Time. You choose apps in Apple's own picker, and iOS gives Sutra only private tokens, so Sutra cannot see which apps you chose. Sutra does not read your app usage or browsing activity. Your choices stay on your device and are never sent to us. You can turn off First thing in the App at any time, and you can remove Sutra's Screen Time access in your iPhone's Screen Time settings.
06Notifications and Widgets
Daily reminders are scheduled on your device by iOS. We do not run a push notification server and do not receive your reminder settings. You can turn reminders off in the App or in iOS Settings. Sutra's widgets can show your practice record and the title of your most recent prayer on your Home Screen or Lock Screen, where anyone who can see your screen may see it. Remove the widget if you would rather keep this private.
07Third-Party Services
Sutra uses: (a) Apple — for App Store purchases, notifications, Screen Time, and widgets, governed by Apple's privacy policy; (b) RevenueCat — to manage subscription status, as described above; (c) Google Firebase — to deliver some app content; when the App connects to Firebase, Google may process technical information such as your IP address and device type. These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. The current version of Sutra does not use advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting services, and we do not sell or share your personal information for advertising.
08Earlier Versions of Sutra
Earlier versions of Sutra asked you to sign in with Apple or Google. If you signed in then, Google Firebase stored an account identifier, the name and email address shared by your sign-in provider, and, if you provided them, your age range, interests, preferred deity, notification settings, and in-app activity points. Earlier versions also let you contact us from the App through a service called EmailJS, which delivered your email address and message to us. The current version collects none of this. To have data from an earlier account deleted, email us from the address you signed in with, and we will delete it within 30 days.
09Data Retention and Deletion
Information on your device stays there until you delete the App. RevenueCat and Apple keep purchase records for as long as needed to manage subscriptions and meet legal and accounting obligations. Data from earlier accounts is kept until you ask us to delete it, and we delete it within 30 days of your request, except where retention is required by law.
10Your Rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and PIPEDA, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict its processing. Because the current version of Sutra keeps your information on your device, most of this is already in your hands. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@m1labs.io.
11Children's Privacy
Sutra is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. The current version does not collect personal information from anyone. If you believe a child under 13 created an account in an earlier version, contact us and we will delete it.
12Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by other means.
