01Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Sera ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
02Description of Service
Sera is an educational mobile application developed by M1 Insights Inc that provides: daily astronomy learning moments with audio content, interactive solar system exploration, a lesson library covering space and astronomy topics, lunar calendar and astrophotography guidance, personalized sky conditions based on your location, and an optional paid subscription, SERA PRO, with extra episodes and learning tools (see Subscriptions below).
03Subscriptions (SERA PRO)
SERA PRO is an optional, auto-renewing subscription. It adds content and tools on top of the free App. The purchase screen in the App lists what is included when you subscribe. That may include: new Pro episodes; guided journeys (text-based lessons that follow one idea step by step); personal review, scheduled from your quiz results; and offline collections, so you can save episodes on your device. What is included can change over time. SERA PRO may not be available in every country or in every version of the App. The starter episodes that come with the App and the daily episode are free. They stay free whether or not you subscribe, and cancelling SERA PRO never removes them.
04Subscription Plans, Prices and Payment
There are two plans. Monthly renews every month; the US price at the time of writing is $9.99 per month. Yearly renews every year; the US price at the time of writing is $39.99 per year, and it may come with a free trial (see Free Trial below). The price that applies to you is the one shown in the App Store when you subscribe, in your local currency. It may include taxes, and prices in other countries can be different. Apple takes the payment, not M1 Insights Inc. Your Apple Account is charged when you confirm the purchase. We never receive your card details. We use a service called RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active; see our Privacy Policy for what it receives.
05Auto-Renewal and Cancellation
Your subscription renews automatically for the same length of time, at the current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges your Apple Account for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can cancel at any time in your Apple Account settings. On iPhone: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions, then SERA PRO, then Cancel Subscription. You can also do this from the App Store app. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. You keep SERA PRO until the end of the period you already paid for. Deleting the App, or deleting your anonymous session, does not cancel your subscription. Only cancelling in your Apple Account settings does.
06Free Trial
The yearly plan may include a free trial of 7 days. Apple decides who is eligible, and the App only offers a trial to people Apple says are eligible. If you are not eligible, the App shows no trial and you pay the plan price when you subscribe. You are not charged during the trial. When the trial ends, it converts to a paid yearly subscription at the yearly price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. If you allow notifications, the App schedules a reminder on your device 2 days before the trial ends. The reminder is a courtesy. It may not arrive, and you are responsible for cancelling in time. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
07Refunds, Ended Subscriptions and Price Changes
Refunds: Apple handles all App Store purchases. M1 Insights Inc cannot issue refunds for them. To ask for a refund, use Apple's "Report a Problem" page (reportaproblem.apple.com) or contact Apple Support. Apple decides whether to refund, under its own policy. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund or cancellation right you have under the consumer laws where you live. If your subscription ends: when your subscription ends (you cancel, a payment fails, or Apple refunds it), you lose access to SERA PRO content at the end of the paid period. The free episodes, your learning progress, and your quiz history are not affected. Pro episodes you saved for offline use stay on your device but are locked until you subscribe again; deleting the App removes them. Your subscription belongs to your Apple Account. On a new device, sign in with the same Apple Account and tap Restore in the App. Price changes: we may change SERA PRO prices. Apple tells you about a price change before it takes effect. In some cases Apple asks you to approve an increase. If you do not approve, or you cancel, your subscription ends at the end of the current period. A price change never affects a period you have already paid for.
08User Accounts
When you use the App online, an anonymous session is created automatically to enable features such as personalized sky conditions and notifications. No username, email address, or password is required, and you do not create conventional account credentials. You can delete your anonymous session, its authentication identity, and your linked device record at any time from within the App. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App (including your anonymous session) if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we determine is harmful to the App or other users.
09Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) use the App for any illegal purpose; (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems; (c) interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality; (d) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App; (e) remove or modify any proprietary notices or labels; (f) use automated systems to access the App without permission; (g) misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
10Intellectual Property
The App and its content, including but not limited to text, graphics, images, audio, software, and design, are owned by M1 Insights Inc and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Certain images and data are provided by NASA and are in the public domain, used in accordance with NASA's media usage guidelines. You retain ownership of any content you create within the App (such as saved items or progress data). By using the App, you grant us a license to store and process this content to provide our services.
11Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF CONTENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, that the App is free of viruses or harmful components, or that astronomical data will be perfectly accurate.
12Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, M1 INSIGHTS INC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, PERSONAL INJURY, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
13Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless M1 Insights Inc, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the App; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights.
14Third-Party Services
The App may contain links to or integrate with third-party services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party services. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk.
15Assumption of Risk
Astronomy and stargazing activities involve inherent risks. You acknowledge and agree that: (a) you are solely responsible for your safety when engaging in outdoor observation activities; (b) weather, sky conditions, and astronomical event predictions are estimates and may be inaccurate; (c) you should never look directly at the sun or use the App while driving or operating machinery; (d) the App is for educational purposes only and should not be relied upon for navigation or safety-critical decisions.
16Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through: (1) informal resolution — contact us first to attempt to resolve the dispute informally; (2) binding arbitration — if informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration Act (Ontario); (3) class action waiver — you agree to resolve disputes individually and waive any right to participate in class actions.
17Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
18Modifications to Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App.
19Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, accidents, strikes, or shortages of transportation, facilities, fuel, energy, labor, or materials.
20No Professional Advice
The App provides educational content about astronomy and space science. Nothing in the App constitutes professional, scientific, or academic advice. Always consult appropriate professionals for specific guidance.
21Apple App Store Additional Terms
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store: (a) these Terms are between you and M1 Insights Inc, not Apple; (b) Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support; (c) Apple is not responsible for any product warranties; (d) Apple is not responsible for any claims related to the App; (e) Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms.
22General Provisions
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and M1 Insights Inc regarding your use of the App. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. Our failure to enforce any provision shall not constitute a waiver. Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide about the App shall become our property. You agree to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations, including Canadian export controls and international sanctions.
