01Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using NovelistAI ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. M1 Insights Inc. ("M1 Labs," "we," "us," or "our") provides NovelistAI as a tool for educational fiction craft analysis.
02Description of Service
NovelistAI is an AI-powered fiction craft analysis tool for writers and readers. The App allows users to capture text from published works via camera (OCR) or manual entry, then uses AI to analyze narrative techniques, pacing, dialogue patterns, and other craft elements for educational purposes.
03Copyright & Fair Use
NovelistAI is designed for educational analysis of fiction craft techniques. Users are responsible for ensuring their use of copyrighted material complies with applicable fair use/fair dealing laws. The App is intended for personal educational analysis of short excerpts, not for reproducing or distributing copyrighted works. Users must: (a) only capture reasonable excerpts for craft analysis; (b) not use the App to reproduce or distribute complete works; (c) respect all applicable copyright laws in their jurisdiction.
04User Content & Data
Text captured and analyzed in the App remains your responsibility. We process text through AI services for craft analysis only. We do not claim ownership of text you input. Analyzed content is stored locally on your device and in your personal cloud library.
05AI Analysis Disclaimer
AI-generated craft analyses are provided for educational and inspirational purposes. They represent algorithmic interpretations of narrative techniques and may not reflect the author's actual intentions. Users should exercise independent critical judgment.
06Intellectual Property
The NovelistAI app, including its analysis algorithms, interface design, and craft taxonomy, is the intellectual property of M1 Insights Inc. ("M1 Labs," "we," "us," or "our"). Users retain rights to any original notes or annotations they create within the App.
07Limitation of Liability
M1 Insights Inc. ("M1 Labs," "we," "us," or "our") is not responsible for any copyright claims arising from user-captured content. Users assume full responsibility for compliance with copyright law. Our total liability shall not exceed fees paid for the App in the preceding twelve months.
08Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
